The songs of worship

Posted by Charles Billingsley on

To worship the Lord is our primary responsibility in life.  Worship is loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.  Many of us express our worship to the Lord by way of song.  And over the last 20 years or so, we have witnessed a sort of worship revolution in our churches.  This is due in large part because of the many wonderful songwriters and singers who have delivered new expressions of worship to the platforms of our churches.  Many of these songs are simply scripture put to music, so even thought the sound is new, the message is ancient and true.  I encourage...

When God called Moses to deliver His people from slavery in Egypt, Moses gave a typical response. "Me? I don't think I’m up to this task. But when he looked up, he saw nothing but dirt dobber nests, spider webs, and ugliness. That evening when his father returned from work, the boy told him he had done just as his father had told him, but he didn’t understand. His father told him he...

How passionate is your worship?

Posted by Charles Billingsley on

We worship that which we are passionate about.  And we are passionate about that which we worship. If you don't believe me, go to a college football game.  There you will see an incredibly accurate depiction of the right kind of worship…it's just the wrong god.  There is loyalty and dedication shown to our favorite team by wearing the team colors.  There is sacrifice made…as we spend enormous sums of money to get our tickets.  There anticipation and excitement…so much that we are willing to get there 3 hours early and park a mile away just to make sure we don't miss anything.  But most of...
