Words on Worship
Worship that irrigates

Many years ago farmers who lived in dry climates learned that they could not effectively grow crops if they completely relied on rainfall. Something had to be done to actively capture the rainwater and control the use of that water throughout the season. So they came up with the process of irrigation. Passively waiting on it to rain can mean the loss of crops. Actively irrigating the water when it did rain created ways to sustain the crops. And so it is with our lifestyle of worship. God has given us the power of His spirit. He has already provided the rain. Now, it is up to us...
Worship that imitates.

For years the phrase “What would Jesus do?” has been a popular saying among believers. WWJD. Everybody knows what it stands for. But the question is do we really KNOW what Jesus would do? Have we studied His life and His word enough to react like He would react, to say what He would say, and to love like He loves? There is only one way to do that. We must spend time with Him and truly follow Him. George Guthrie once said, “A Christian profession of faith involves commitment of one’s life, not just a phrase on one’s tongue.” In other words, if we want to be more like Jesus,...
Worship that permeates.

The next time you are in church and everyone is singing a song, take a moment and look around. Ask yourself this question: Do people really live what they are singing? Then ask yourself the same question. You can’t do anything about how others live, but you can do something about YOUR walk with Christ. Do you want to be a true worshiper of Jesus? Then dive deep into His word. Hebrews reminds us that His word is living and active…and if we will allow it, it will penetrate our souls, which in turn will permeate our lives with the fragrance of Christ. Do you want power...
Worship that Radiates

Have you ever stood in a room that was totally dark, only to discover, as your eyes adjusted, that you could see light seeping in from a corner or from under a doorway? That’s because just a tiny bit of light goes a long way in a dark room. And so it is with you and me, believer. Jesus tells us in Matthew 5 that we are the light of the world. Just as He came to be a light unto the nations, so we, as His followers, are to reflect His light into the world’s darkness. Our job is to reflect His light…which, in turn, radiates...
Worship with boldness.

We live in interesting times. There are days where tolerance is preached boldly…until you preach Jesus boldly. Then the tolerant are not so tolerant anymore. These are days when acceptance is touted as a must in our society…until you stand boldly for Jesus. Then you are not so accepted anymore. We must remember that the very nature of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus is offensive to all those who do not believe. So we must serve and present the word of God to the unbeliever with love and a lifestyle that is consistent and holy…but still unashamed. Don't be surprised when ridicule comes. Jesus told us to...
