Words on Worship

Righteous thinking leads to righteous living.

I have used a little saying with my kids for many years that simply goes like this: "Do what's right." As they have grown up, "Do what's right" has taken on a much deeper meaning.  Where it used to mean something so trivial as don't take a cookie from the cookie jar, it now means, don't fall into the trappings of sin and selfishness that can take you way farther down a road of destruction than you had ever planned.  Paul encourages us in Philippians 4:8 to think on things which are true, noble, and righteous.  Our bodies cannot do anything our brains don't tell them to do, so living a lifestyle...

If your mind is in the right place, then your worship will be also.

Each and every day we are faced with many decisions to either choose to do what is right, or do what is wrong.  But, the decision is made much easier when we have already predetermined in our minds to do that which is right.  Spiritual growth begins in the mind, and it is in the mind that we decide what to do and when to do it.  It is so important for our minds to think on things which are true and noble or honorable.  "It is," as Dr. Jeremiah says, "the outside action of the Word of God that triggers the inside action of the Holy Spirit. When I was in school, my favorite test questions were always the true or false questions.  I always liked those the most because I had a 50% chance of getting it right.  In Philippians  4:8, Paul encourages us to set our minds on whatever is true.  In this day and age, the interpretation of something as absolute truth seems to rest on the ever-changing current opinion of the majority.  However, there is one truth that stands alone, no matter what public opinion may say.  It is the truth of the Word of God.  His Word has stood the test of time and proven to be true time and time again.  So as you worship...

That, in turn, leads to the tearing down of the old in order to make way for the new; and finally, the construction and finished product.  In the same way, this is how God changes us from the inside out when we renovate or transform our thought life from one that has been  "conformed to this world" to one that is...

Can worship transform my life?

Posted by Charles Billingsley on

Yes! Worship CAN transform your life, and it begins with worshiping God with your whole mind.  We talked yesterday about the need for discipline in our thought life.  Do you know how powerfully that one thing can change your life?  When you have learned to discipline your thoughts, God then begins to transform who you are by how you think.  My dear friend Dr. David Jeremiah says it this way, "You are not what you think you are, but what you THINK...YOU ARE."  Do you want your life to change? Then follow the Apostle Paul's instructions to the Romans: stop being conformed to the things of this world, where things on...
