Words on Worship
What is God's will for you this upcoming year?
Posted by Charles Billingsley on
I once read a quote by the great preacher, Lloyd Ogilvie which said, "The restless search for the will of God in your life is a sure sign you are out of it." At first, I didn't totally understand what he meant by that statement, until I realized it was in reference to our daily walk with the Lord in Scripture that lays the foundation for how we must approach all things. The will of God in your life begins with what He has called us all to do…worship Him. To love the Lord your God with all you heart...
Are you ready to trust God this year?
Posted by Charles Billingsley on
It is impossible to worship a God we cannot trust. But did you know there are 7,487 promises made by God in the Bible? And more importantly…He has a proven track record of keeping every one of those promises. God is faithful, even when people are not. So follow the wisdom in Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust the Lord with all your heart, and lean NOT on your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him…and He will direct your path." To acknowledge God in all your ways means to worship Him as a lifestyle. In everything you do, with all that you are…trust God in ALL things. There is nothing too hard for God. There is no prayer...
Are You Truly Living or Just Existing?
Posted by Charles Billingsley on
A friend of mine once said to a classroom full of Liberty University students, "One of the most tragic things in life is not to fail, but to succeed in something that doesn't matter." Our lives are full of distractions, and if we are not careful, those things can dominate our time. Things like TV, video games, surfing the internet, social media all have their place, but are those things drawing us closer to God? So many hours of our lives are wasted away on these things, when we could be growing closer to God and worshiping Him. The life of worship is truly a life of adventure and excitement. God...
We All Live for Something. What is it That You Live For?

Artists live to create that one masterpiece. Authors live to create that one life's work. Athletes live to win championships. But what do you live for? Maybe today you don't feel like you have anything to live for, rather, you are just existing. Or even worse...you feel like you are dying. Don't be like that author who wrote "First, I was dying to finish high school and start college. Then I was dying to finish college and start working. Then I was dying to marry and have children. Then I was dying for my children to grow old enough for school so I could return to work. Then I was dying to retire. And now, I am dying…and suddenly...
Learn to Practice the Wisdom of Firsts
Posted by Charles Billingsley on
When I was in college, a wise professor told me to start practicing the wisdom of firsts. By that, he meant that I should make it a habit in my life of giving God the first part of everything in my life. That way, I assure that God is getting the best part of me, rather than the leftovers. In the Old Testament book of Malachi, the people of God had become selfish and complacent about their offerings to God. So much so, that instead of bringing their best as an offering to Him, they were giving him their worst. God became greatly upset with them as He reminded them that their...
