Words on Worship
Where does all the time go?

As a worship leader, it dawned on me the other day that over 98% of my time is spent off the platform, rather than on it. And really the same applies to all of us. Most of our time is not spent sitting in church. We are out working jobs all week or racing our kids around town. So we must learn to worship as we go. In every moment and in every situation, we can and should worship the Lord. Colossians 3:23 says "In whatsoever you do, do it whole heartedly as to the Lord, and not unto men." In other words, make the...
Spend time worshiping Jesus

Do you spend time with God? I mean real time…in times of prayer and study of His word. Often I've been guilty of skipping moments with the Lord. Or I'll just read a verse or two to get the legalistic part of me off my back, and then move on throughout my day. But, that does little to help me grow closer to Jesus. I want to encourage you to pick a time each day and meet with God. Guard it as though it were a doctor's appointment. For this is daily surgery on your soul. I love what Richard and Henry Blackaby say...
Worshiping the everlasting Father

Yesterday was Father's day. My dad has always been my hero. But, like all of us, his time is limited on this earth. However, Isaiah 9:6 reminds us that we worship an everlasting Father who is with us throughout eternity. As everlasting Father, He is our provider. He owns it all and "shall supply all our needs according to His riches in glory." He is our protector. He knows and cares about every little detail of our lives. He is also our comforter. And in giving us comfort, He gives us strength for our long, and sometimes difficult journey. Remember, this life is a marathon and not a sprint. I encourage you...
Worshiping Jesus, the everlasting Savior

Read John chapter 1 and you will see that Jesus was not just some temporary being. True, He only dwelt among us for a short while, but Jesus has always been. He was there before creation, and He will be there throughout eternity. In plain old Virginian English….He ain’t goin’ nowhere!! He was is, is is, and will be is. Jesus just Is! He is the Alpha and Omega. The Beginning and the End. The same yesterday, today, and forever! His beginning wasn’t the manger, and His ending wasn’t the cross. Are you getting the picture? He is Everlasting! Doesn’t it...
Worship lead, follow or get out of the way

We talked yesterday about how each one of us is a leader of people to some extent. We all have some level of influence. So today, I would like to challenge you to view yourself as a leader. As a Child of God, begin to see yourself as a worship leader. I like that old saying, "Lead, follow, or get out of the way." That only gives us three options doesn't it? Nobody wants to be in the way, and it is not near as fun to follow. So why not be a leader? If you feel like you have no influence, ask yourself why. If you feel...
