Words on Worship

Is worship boring to you?

Posted by Charles Billingsley on

A.W. Tozer once said: "I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven." By saying this, Tozer meant that our salvation is so much more than simply saying a prayer of repentance to Jesus, and thereby punching our ticket to Heaven. That's just the beginning! "We are brought to faith and salvation so that we might worship and adore our Savior.  We were created for this purpose! Worship isn't boring. It is...

Whatever happened to worship

Whatever happened to worship?  It's a question A.W. Tozer asked in his popular book on the same subject.  By that, he was referencing the fact that in the modern church, with all of our resources and riches, we run the risk of losing authentic worship in our churches and also in our daily lives.  We simply have so much, that to recognize our need to live lives that are "genuine sacred offerings to God" is very difficult.  We must get past this mindset as believers that Christ saved us because He needs our help for something. Have you ever been so tired you couldn't even sleep? The stress of the day has worn you down so much that you can't wait to hit the sack, only to discover your mind is still churning.  I want to encourage you to find a moment in the each day to simply rest in Jesus.  The best time may be right in the middle of the most stressful time.  "Come to me," Jesus says, "all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle...
