You know, it’s funny. As Christians, we trust in the Lord enough to save us, but then we don’t trust Him enough to guide us. You would think we would firmly trust that the God who has the power to transform our lives also has the wisdom to guide our lives. But, the reason we don’t trust Him is because we are constantly entrenched in a battle of the mind and the will. God knows this, and that’s why He reminds us in Proverbs 3:5 to trust in Him and lean NOT on our own understanding. God is omniscient and He is sovereign. Nothing catches Him by surprise. So trust Him above your own opinions. This passage doesn’t mean we are not supposed to use the brains He has given us, but it DOES mean that we should be smart enough use those brains to depend on God for ALL our direction.
