Worshiping down the right path

Posted by Charles Billingsley on

In God’s word we find many general guidelines to live by.  Here’s one of the most well-known: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart.  Lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.” The word “direct” means to “make straight or smooth.”  It gives the picture of one filling in the potholes on a highway before an important ruler travels the road.  I like that.  It means when we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and stop relying on our feeble wisdom and start acknowledging that His way is best, then He we will see that He has gone ahead of us to make smooth our pathway to His will.  I once heard this statement from Lloyd Ogilvie: “The restless search for the will of God is a sure sign you are out of it.”  In other words, fall in love with Jesus. Delight only in Him and you will discover that as you grow closer to Him, He is guiding you down the path of His choosing instead of your own.
